IN CASE YOU MISSED IT - Make Impact in 2020 With Ignitia

Updated: Mar 3

Our excitement for the New Year is growing even with just two weeks gone so far. The impact in 2020 is calling and you can join us to make even more impact!

In the context of global climate change and food insecurity, 96 percent of farmers in the tropics rely on only rain as the source of water for their fields. This situation affects 500 million farmers all across the tropics. Compounding that, almost every stage of farming operations relies on rain. Hence, it is essential for farmers in the tropics to have a highly accurate weather forecast.

For the first time, farmers in the tropics have access to a weather forecast with 84% reliability compared to global models that have only 39% accuracy. It gets even better with the recently implemented machine learning to improve Ignitia's forecasts even more. With this push from AI, our forecasts are getting sharper with higher precision.

In 2019, Ignitia worked with several organisations committed to improving outcomes and livelihoods for smallholder farmers to provide localised and highly accurate forecasts to thousands of farmers. Looking towards 2020, Ignitia remains committed to addressing the challenges inherent in rainfed agriculture in the tropics.

In case you missed it, watch the video below and get in touch let's make more impact for smallholder farmers!
